Mechanics of Photo Contest

Hobbyist and Professional Category

 

 

Theme:             Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change

 

Participants:      Open to all Professional/Amateur Photographers; Hobbyist

 

Specification of the Competition:

 

The photo contest will feature two (2) photo shots. One will any of the following subjects on environment a) beauty of nature; b) destructive behavior of man towards it; c) protective measures; d) enhancement  measures in responding to the challenge of climate change and the other will be done on the spot upon entry. The on the spot entry will be product shots of various antiquities exhibit during the event.

 

·         Entry should be “8x11” color or black and white print. Negatives of entries should be attached at the back of the print while digital entries should be in CD (with EXIF Files) which will be returned after verification. 

·         The photograph must reflect the theme of the celebration and should be taken in General Santos City.

·         Participants may submit up to Five (5) entries backed by a product shot of antiquities exhibited at the site. Entries  on the above mentioned subjects may be taken preferably from the following:

 

·         Relevant Tuna Festival activity / event

·         Eco-tourism sites (beaches, mountains, waterfalls)

·         Infra-Agri-Industrial sites (fishport, airport, ricefields)

·         Commercial tourism site (hotels, restaurants, malls)

·         Communities, Schools , Others

 

·         Entries must be duly supported by a written consent of the subject owner (e.g. private properties, faces and people)

 

·       Submitted entries must not have been previously published / printed, displayed or awarded any prize in any contest.

·       No desktop printouts

·       No borders

·       Entry / photo must conform to the following specification:

 

o        JPG format

o        Must have EXIF

o        No watermark / name on photo

o        Color or black and white

o        No blurring digital effects / filters addition and subtraction of elements

o        RGB curves, RGB levels, brightness & contrast, sharpening are allowed (global adjustments)

 

·       All entries will be exhibited on September 22-27, 2008 at Gaisano Mall, General Santos City.

·       Deadline of submission of entries in on September 22, 2008 at 1:00 pm.; entries after the cut off time will not be considered.

PRIZES:

·         Judges will select three(3) major entry:

 

            First Prize:                    P 6,000.00 + trophy

            Second Prize:               P 5,000.00 + trophy

            Third Prize                     P 4,000.00 + trophy

 

·         All winning entries will be exhibited on any tourism event participated by the OCEMCD.

·         A participant is entitled to win 1 (one) prize only. In case of multiple winnings, the lower prize(s) will be forfeited in favor of the next in rank.

 

JUDGING

·         Judging will take place on  September 24, 2008 2:00 pm

·         A panel of judges will consist of three (3) members

·         Judging criteria

 

Relevance to the theme             -           40%

Composition                             -           30%

Artistic Statement                      -           30%

Please note all entries (print photo/s, winning or not winning) will become the property of the Office of the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development and may be included on the promotion programs of the city, whether national or international. However, copyrights of the photo will still be held by the owner of the entry/entries.
